Tracking

We count page views, measure how fast pages load, and measure which of our ads bring people here. Since August 24, 2026 that runs through Google Analytics, which sets a cookie and tells Google about the visit. We never sell it, and we never give it to anyone deciding a claim.

Cookies

One kind. A Google Analytics cookie on the public pages, so a second visit from you is not counted as a second person, and so we can tell which advertising brought you here. Signing the charter sets no cookie: there is nothing to log into.

1What we collect

  1. 1.1
    If you ask to be told when charter signing opens: your email address, and your name if you give it. That is a waiting list and nothing more. It is not a signature, it does not make you a signatory, and it puts you on no mailing list. We send one email, on the day signing opens.
  2. 1.2
    If you sign the charter: your name, your role, the organisation you name if you choose to name one, your province or, from outside Canada, your country, your email address, and your choice about whether your name appears on the public register. Your name, role, organisation and province are what the register shows, if you asked to be on it. Your email address is never published. It is there so we can check the signature is yours, and so you hold a link that takes your name back off the register.
  3. 1.3
    If you contribute to the standard: the lens you choose, the practice patterns you contribute, the patterns you endorse, your choices about being credited by name, and which updates you have turned on. To change or remove any of these, email hello@napsdm.ca and a person does it.
  4. 1.4
    If you email us: whatever you choose to write, at the address you wrote to.
  5. 1.5
    If you just visit the public pages: we count page views, so we can see which pages get read: the page address, where the visit came from, your rough region, and the kind of device and browser. We also measure how fast the page loaded for you, so we can find the pages that are slow to arrive. Since August 24, 2026 this runs through Google Analytics, which sets a cookie on your device and sends the visit to Google. We also advertise, because a standard nobody finds changes nothing. We run search advertising through the Google Ad Grant for non-profits, and we use what Analytics tells us to see which ads bring people who go on to read something, and to put this work in front of more of the people who need it. None of it can tell us your name. What we will never do is sell it, or give it to an employer, an insurer, or anyone deciding a claim. Like any website, the service that hosts us also keeps brief automatic logs, such as the time of a request and a rough region, to keep the site running and secure. We do not use them to identify or follow you.

    Cookies: one kind. Signing the charter sets none: there is nothing to log into, so there is no sign-in cookie. Google Analytics sets a counting cookie on the public pages, so that if you come back we can tell it is a returning visit rather than a new person, and so we can tell which advertising brought you here. It holds a random number, not your name. Blocking cookies in your browser, or using any content blocker, stops all of it, and nothing on this site stops working when you do.

2What we do with it

  1. 2.1
    Your signature joins you to the charter. Your name and role appear with the founding signatories when the charter publishes, unless you chose to stay off the public list, in which case your signature is counted and your name is not shown.
  2. 2.2
    Your contributions are reviewed and may be synthesized into the Standard. Your name appears in a version’s history only with your consent, which you control for each contribution. The signatory and contribution terms explain this in full, including what stays yours.
  3. 2.3
    When you sign, your email address is used for one message: it confirms the signature is yours, and it carries the permanent link that takes your name off the public register. If you later turn on signatory updates, it is used for those too. It never appears publicly, and we do not add you to anything you did not ask for.

3Where it is stored, and who helps us

  1. 3.1
    Your signature is stored in a database in Canada, in Microsoft’s Canada Central region, and it stays there. Your email address sits in that same record, because it is how we reach you about your own signature. The connection between your browser and us, and between us and that database, is encrypted.
  2. 3.2
    The charter waiting list is kept apart from all of that, in the Alliance’s own Microsoft 365 records, and it is not connected to the signatory register in any way.
  3. 3.3
    A small number of service providers help us run the Alliance: Microsoft, which hosts the database in Canada and the mailbox your confirmation is sent from, and Vercel, which serves these pages. They may use your details only to provide that service to us, and for nothing else.
  4. 3.4
    Email you send us stays in our inboxes and is read by the people who run the Alliance, no one else.

4What we will never do

  1. 4.1
    We will never sell, rent, or trade your details.
  2. 4.2
    We will never use them to train any product.
  3. 4.3
    We will never share them with an insurer, an employer, or any other third party, except the service providers named in Section 3, who may not use them for anything else, or where the law requires it.
  4. 4.4
    We will never use what a harmed person writes to us for anything beyond reading it with care and replying.

5Your choices

  1. 5.1
    Taking your name off the public register is yours to do, at any time, using the permanent link in the email we sent you when you signed. No reason needed, and nobody to ask. Everything else — correcting your details, withdrawing a contribution, changing your credit choice, or turning member emails on or off — is one email away.
  2. 5.2
    You can also withdraw your signature whenever you like. One email to hello@napsdm.ca does it, or anything else you would rather we handle: correct your details, take your name off the public charter, or remove your signature entirely.
  3. 5.3
    It is done within seven days, your signatory number is retired, and a person confirms when it is finished.
  4. 5.4
    To come off the charter waiting list, email hello@napsdm.ca and we delete the entry. You do not have to give a reason.

6Using this site

  1. 6.1
    Everything published here is information, not legal, medical, or financial advice. The evidence pages cite their primary sources so you can check them, and the court record speaks for itself.
  2. 6.2
    If you are in crisis, please use the numbers on the crisis support page rather than email, which can take days.

    Signing and contributing have their own terms, on the signatory and contribution terms page. The Alliance is a Canadian federal non-profit, incorporated on July 10, 2026.

This page is kept current. Every change to what we collect is recorded here.

  1. 2026-10-05
    Membership wording replaced with signing and signatory, because the Board has not adopted a membership model. The terms page is now called the signatory and contribution terms. Nothing we collect, and nothing we do with it, changed.
  2. 2026-08-31
    Clause 1.2 now names everything a charter signature collects: the organisation and the province were collected and were not declared. Clause 1.6 corrected, as signing sets no cookie and there is no sign-in cookie. Clauses 1.3, 2.3, 3.1 and 3.3 no longer describe a sign-in system or a portal, neither of which exists: the charter opens before the member portal does. Clause 3.1 names the region the database sits in. The summary at the head of the page was corrected to match: it said the page covers a member portal, and that cookies are of two kinds including a sign-in cookie. Clause 5.1 no longer sends you to a portal to change your own details.
  3. 2026-08-24
    Moved page-view counting to Google Analytics, which sets a cookie and sends the visit to Google, and started advertising: search advertising through the Google for Nonprofits Ad Grant, measured with the same tool. What we collect about a visit is what it was before, plus the cookie: the page address, the referring site, a rough region, and the kind of device and browser. We never sell it and we never give it to anyone deciding a claim.
